Christmas 2025
December 18 | Posted by mrossol | Interesting, PersonalA few items to share about Jennifer and Martin’s 2025.
Excepting the inauguration of a new US Administration, A.D. 2025 began similar to 2024: Martin went skiing with Mark and Joel in Colorado! Martin’s thinking was that he needed to ski while his health allows. We enjoyed two days together with good snow and skiing. But one short day later Martin woke with a significant sciatic nerve ‘something’. Regrettably, the chiropractor was not able to help, but a sports PT guy recommended some stretches and therapy that really solved the issue. Martin was impressed.
Care for Martin’s mother continued early in the year. She had prayed to outlive her husband but we believe after he died (July 2024) it was more difficult than she had anticipated. Mom died February 15. There were still visits to Roseville to help prepare the house for sale, etc. Mom and Dad were ’savers’, as many war refugees are, and there was much to sort through. We all hate to see that house ‘gone’– we called it ‘home’ since before 1960. Both Martin’s siblings also buried their mothers-in-law in 2025, so ‘mortality’ has occupied our thoughts much of the year.
After a six-year absence we finally returned to Australia in April to visit Emily and her family. Our youngest, Evie, decided she wanted to visit her sister, too, and have her daughters meet the cousins. So Evie and her family joined us for four of the five weeks we were in Sydney [West Pennant Hills]. We had a very nice visit, strengthening relationships- especially with our grandchildren.
Three of our American granddaughters were baptized this year. [Maia was baptized in 2024]. How blessed we are!
A CMV infection during pregnancy resulted in Evie’s Eva being deaf in one ear (Eva was born 3/22/24). Yes, go figure. Eva had a cochlear implant ‘installed’ in November and we are prayerfully hoping that she will adapt to this device and will enjoy a richer experience in sound.
Martin continues to enjoy helping Mark– and Evie when we visit Ohio –with ‘home ownership projects’. And, of course, we both cherish time with our grandchildren.
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas celebrating the birth of Christ!
