In regard to Avi Jorisch’s excellent June 16 op-ed “Today’s Pirates Have Their Own Stock Exchange“: Of course it is infuriating to read how blatant the pirates’ criminality is. But Mr. Jorisch also makes us realize what an irrational contradiction the policy of the U.S. represents. We intervene in a civil war and bomb Libyans who are fighting each other, but we do not intervene or bomb pirates who are attacking us. The administration is pathetic on this point. A few bombs well placed on the pirates’ stock exchange would be a good place to start a reversal of our pusillanimous, effete, embarrassing response to piracy.
