*COVID NEWS AND COMMENTARY*

🪳🪳🪳 When I first heard about Fauci yesterday, I discovered an exciting new feeling that I imagine was just like how all those little munchkins must have felt right after the Wicked Witch of the East got squashed under that house, and they were joyfully racing around all over, excitedly bumping into each other like pillowy pinballs, and just wailing on Munchkintown’s giant bell like nobody’s business.

Ding dong! The Witch is dead!

The Washington Post’s obsequious hagiography was headlined “Fauci plans to step down in December after half a century in government.” The long-form article, clearly pre-written, tells you nothing useful. It just gasses on and on with a loving description of Fauci and how he burrowed his way into government until he was the NIH termite mound’s queen. The article takes pains to point out that, even when he got it wrong — like when he correctly said masks did nothing — Fauci was always a good little cockroach and always scurried to assume the government’s position without complaint.

Just to give you one nauseating example, in papering over Fauci’s utter failure to do anything useful during his 50 years in government, wreaking destruction on generations of Americans instead, the Washington Post blandly reported, “Some of Fauci’s goals have proved elusive.” Hahaha! I’m going to have to remember that one.

INTERVIEWER: What would you say was your best accomplishment in your prior position?

APPLICANT: I would say that my most ambitious goals proved elusive.

Ironically, or appropriately, the WaPo ended its love letter to Fauci with a typical classic Fauci malapropism, not quite in his usual repetitive, circular, and incomprehensible locution, but still a wonderful example:

Fauci maintains hope the country can recover from its bout of political acrimony: “I believe that, ultimately, the better angels in our country are going to prevail.”

That numbskull Fauci was trying to quote Lincoln, who referred to the “better angels OF OUR NATURE,” not our COUNTRY. I doubt Fauci even believes in angels, much less thinks there are worse angels and better ones. If Fauci had considered his words for one second instead of trying to impress the reporter, he’d have recognized that his version didn’t make any sense. While Fauci had the right GENERAL idea — Lincoln was talking about knitting a divided country back together — he totally butchered the delivery. Here’s Lincoln’s wonderful original quote:

“The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”

Fauci is no Lincoln.

But Fauci’s misquote is appropriately ironic, because it PERFECTLY illustrates Fauci’s two main character flaws. His first flaw is that he’s not anywhere near as smart as he thinks he is, but he desperately wants to sound smart, so he always picks the most complicated words or expressions he can imagine and then stumbles over the delivery. The second flaw is he’s constantly making little mistakes like this. Each individual error may not be very significant — who cares if he messed up a Lincoln quote — but all the little mistakes, stitched together and added up, combine into a horrible rhetorical catastrophe.

The Lincoln misquote is a metaphor for the fact that Fauci makes a LOT of real mistakes. Not just rhetorical ones.

🔥 In case you are stationed at the South Pole or something, at a sprightly 106 (okay, 81), Fauci suddenly and unexpectedly tendered his resignation yesterday via a letter immediately released to the media. In the letter, Fauci said he plans to keep working until right before the Republicans take over Congress in January. In essence, he’s giving his 90 days notice, which is probably the appropriate amount of notice for the head of a major government agency.

It seemed very important to Fauci that he assure us that, while we might be able to dynamite him out of the NIH, he’s not going anywhere anytime soon:

While I am moving on from my current positions, I am not retiring… I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field. I want to use what I have learned as NIAID Director to continue to advance science and public health and to inspire and mentor the next generation of scientific leaders as they help prepare the world to face future infectious disease threats.

I swear, I think Fauci must be mainlining some kind of immortality juice distilled from Beagle puppy brains, or maybe something even worse. What 81-year-old can you remember who was this excited, after handling the most demanding challenge of his entire career, to pursue the “next phase” — not FINAL phase, the NEXT phase — of their career? How many phases are there? All the evidence suggests Fauci is planning to cheat Death somehow, probably through some kind of Satanic pact or something.

He obviously has no soul. So.

Jokes aside, this “next phase” business is actually Fauci’s wink to his buddies in Big Pharma signaling that the bidding is now open. I predict that by January 3rd, Fauci’s bony butt will be warming a swanky velvet Boardroom seat around Pfizer’s Brazilian cherrywood conference table, or something similarly rewarding. Professionally, I mean.

🔥 I noticed an interesting trend online in the social media comments about Fauci yesterday. Instead of CELEBRATING Fauci’s voluntary departure, they passionately demanded to know: when will he be prosecuted?!?

I thought, wow, some folks sure don’t give themselves much of a chance to enjoy good news. They just sprint right to the next disappointment. So I am unofficially dedicating the C&C comments today to CELEBRATION of the Fauci Resignation. Let’s leave the difficult next steps alone for a few days, so that we can savor this delicious moment. We can do the dishes later.

At least, that’s what I’M going to be doing.

🔥 There’s a much bigger picture here. Let’s quickly roundup all the massive shifts that have happened just in the last couple weeks:

  • Without warning, the CDC issued revised guidance deleting its heightened requirements for unjabbed people, making them equal to vaccinated and infuriating many lefties. The new guidance was NOT signed by the agency’s political head, Rochelle Walensky.
  • The Biden Administration suddenly signaled that it would “soon” end the government’s funding of covid jabs, further exasperating many lefties who expected free spike protein injections for the rest of their lives.
  • Out of the clear blue sky, the CDC abruptly announced that it had, after all, made a lot of mistakes during the pandemic, and will be commencing a top-to-bottom reorganization effective immediately.
  • Surprising even some “senior Biden officials,” HHS elevated a murky biowarfare-response unit to agency level, right alongside the FDA and CDC on the flow chart, to assume handling future pandemics. In other words, it appears pandemics are being stripped from the CDC.
  • And now, Fauci suddenly and unexpectedly resigned.

Those are a lot of dots to connect. YOU might think this is all coincidental, but I don’t. Even more interesting, this is not how the White House handles a pivot. This is how the Deep State pivots.

When the White House wants to pivot on an issue, politics drive the narrative. First, it floats trial balloons in corporate media, through articles calling for the Administration to change, and explaining how one-way masking works. Then its allies in and out of government pen editorials, studies, and journal articles explaining why change would be good. Then the President takes the podium and announces that it is giving in to popular demand, following the experts, and pivoting.

So nothing ACTUALLY happens till the White House is all ready for the political fallout and ready to control the narrative. Think about how they handled the Covid Narrative 2.0 pivot. We saw it coming from late Fall, and even correctly predicted about what week it would happen.

But when the Deep State pivots, things just HAPPEN, without political posturing or advance warning. The Deep State doesn’t talk about what it’s up to. It just DOES stuff.

The most parsimonious explanation for Fauci’s departure — standing alone — is that he wanted to avoid Republican investigatory committee hearings. Why bother? He can take a fantastically-remunerative and cushy job in the private sector anytime he wants by making a single phone call. Why put up with the Republicans’ nonsense when he doesn’t have to?

But Fauci’s exit does NOT stand alone. We must temporally combine it with all these other sea changes happening inside the bureaucracy, all the things we can see (and probably a lot of other things we can’t see). His departure is combined with historic mea culpa by the CDC — something that doesn’t politically reflect well on the Biden Administration, however diligently they’ll work to blame everything on Trump. And it is combined with significant changes in CDC covid policy that roil the democrat base right before the elections.

Think about it like this. Fauci’s publicly said over and over he has no plans to retire anytime soon. Sometimes he says he wants to see the covid thing through before retiring. Other times he said he wants to get a ‘real’ HIV vaccine launched first. But now — alongside all these other non-political bureaucratic reorganizations — Fauci suddenly pulled the ripcord. Why NOW?

I don’t have any truly useful theories for you. I can only point out what I’m seeing. But maybe it has something to do with the bureaucracy hardening itself against anticipated Republican Congressional investigations. The timing works. With Fauci out and the CDC reorganized over the next few months, correcting its “mistakes,” government officials called to testify can more easily shift the blame for whatever comes to light.

Setting aside darker theories about the jabs, there are at least three huge political scandals that look likely to have legs. First is all the illegal gain-of-function work that the NIH directed or approved through EcoHealth Alliance. Second is the clearly unconstitutional government conspiracy to silence early covid policy critics, like the authors of the Great Barrington Declaration, or the scientists who thought the virus was manmade. Third would be mishandling of military health data. I could think of a few more.

As long as they enjoyed a willfully blind Democrat Congress, the Deep State actors had no reason to worry about investigations. But Congress is apparently poised to shift, which is what usually happens at the first midterms under a new presidential administration anyway. Having been through this before, the Deep State actors know full well that lots of subpoenas will be issued and lots of officials will be called to testify under oath.

With Fauci out, and with the CDC reorganized, government officials called to testify can point the finger of blame at a cornucopia of patsies. Look for a bunch of internal CYA memos to suddenly bloom like spring wildflowers, sprouting just in time to protect incumbent officials from Congressional hearings. We told them it was a bad idea! Fauci and Collins acted alone! The reorganization will stop anything like that from ever happening again! So, case closed.

That’s my best guess. What do YOU think is going on? Share your thoughts in the comments.

📊 *COVID IN FLORIDA AND ALACHUA COUNTY* 📊

It’s Election Day! PLEASE PLEASE get to the polls and vote if you haven’t already. So far they have not been super busy, at least, not around here. C&C tries to avoid expressly endorsing particular candidates, but I want to give a shoutout to my buddy Ty Appiah, who is wicked smart and has been a loyal friend through thick and thin, and is currently running for Congress in the primary against a strong and well-respected incumbent.

Also, FYI, I am back in Facebook jail for another month for criticizing the jabs yesterday. At some point I’ll be perma-banned, so make sure you’re subscribed to the Substack.

Have a terrific Tuesday! Enjoy the great news today, and we’ll catch up on all the other interesting news in tomorrow’s roundup.
