🔥 Breitbart ran a story this week, ignored by corporate media, headlined, “Hunter Biden’s Attorney Confirms WhatsApp Text Shaking Down Chinese Businessman Is Real.”

Well how about that. On Friday, Hunter’s attorney issued a statement attempting to explain away the WhatsApp bribery message as a coke-fueled mistake, and to put Joe Biden in the clear, even though Hunter’s extortive text message clearly claimed Joe was “sitting right next to me.” Actually, the attorney’s statement didn’t quite claim Hunter was non-compos-mentis when he typed the text, which itself was pretty coherent for something allegedly written by a person under the influence:

“The DOJ investigation covered a period which was a time of turmoil and addiction for my client. Any verifiable words or actions of my client in the midst of a horrible addiction are solely his own and have no connection to anyone in his family.”

It’s weak. The attorney is crafting a new type of insanity defense, craftily turning Hunter’s widely-publicized drug problems into an asset. But it is a stretch too far. For one thing, there is no “drugs made me do it” defense when your actions are coherent, intelligible, and consistent with furthering a criminal act. For another thing, the lawyer is not denying that Hunter didn’t mean every single word of that text message.

The problem is that, within ten days from Hunter sending that message, the Biden Family Business mysteriously got $5.1 million from a CCP-linked energy company. On which no taxes were paid. Starting the same day, Hunter’s company began receiving regular “consulting fees” that nearly totaled another $5 million.

It’s good money if you can get it.

The IRS whistleblower who has been cooperating with the House said that FBI investigators sought to use location data to confirm that Joe Biden was in the room, but their investigation was shut down or otherwise buried under the Potomac river.

There’s a lot more detail. The House Oversight Committee has now traced millions from the same energy company to various Biden family members, including Hunter, James, Hallie, and a fourth unidentified Biden.

Which is why this proposed defense is paper thin. Nobody is going to believe that the smoking gun of a WhatsApp message — a message that explicitly seeks a bribe from a foreign national and simultaneously implicates Joseph Robinette Biden, the old pony soldier himself — nobody will believe that was a random one-off event provoked by a night of orgiastic recreational drug use.

Don’t blame the attorney. He could have lied and denied the message was verifiably true. But he hewed to his ethical duties and admitted the message was real. So far, he’s just seems to be trying to make the best case he can out of a very, very bad case.

💉 The AP ran an alarming disease story yesterday that was frighteningly headlined, “Malaria Cases In Texas And Florida Are The First U.S. Spread Since 2003, CDC says.” Oh, no, not again!

The “malaria epidemic” was five people. Four cases of malaria appeared in Florida and one in Texas. According to a recent statement from the Florida Department of Health, all four Floridians were treated and have fully recovered.

Florida bravely survived a malarial “outbreak” twenty years ago in 2003, when twice as many — eight cases — were reported down in Palm Beach County. With no deaths that time either.

Some alert folks were properly suspicious about Bill Gates’ genetically-modified mosquitos, which quite coincidentally back in 2018 were released into the same two states, Florida and Texas. And to be honest, I was drawn to the story because I am always interested in these weird recent outbreaks of long-controlled diseases that could suggest some kind of population-level immune dysregulation.

But so far, this story is nothing to worry about. It’s just the usual template.

First, five cases isn’t an epidemic. And the country’s failed southern border is a seriously confounding variable for diseases common south of the border like malaria. Four cases aren’t a whole lot, and nobody should be surprised they focused on Florida which has a lot of mosquitos and a sweaty, tropical climate. Texas has a great big border problem.

So, this is a non-story, unless something else happens.

🔥 But let us not allow Bill Gates to squiggle off the hook that easily. Last week, Fox News ran a story headlined, “Rand Paul Rips Bill Gates’ Alleged Tie To Gain-Of-Function Research: ‘Funding The Biggest Danger To Mankind’.”

Sounds about right.

During an interview on “Sunday Morning Futures’ interview with Maria Bartiromo, Senator Paul specifically called out the software billionaire as potentially endangering the entire human race, which is not the kind of category most people want to win. First, Senator Paul wisely called for slashing ALL gain-of-function research, and also insisted that, despite the Biden Administration’s lukewarm declassified report, the covid virus DID emerge from the Wuhan, China lab, and not only that, but thanks to research funded by U.S. officials.

Officials like former NIAID director and human cockroach Tony Fauci. Paul explained, “The blame equally should go not only to Chinese authorities, but to Anthony Fauci and all those who advocated for this.” Paul continued, “Look, Bill Gates has been over there recently. Bill Gates is the largest funder of trying to find these viruses in remote caves and bring them to big cities. What happened in China is they went 8 to 10 hours south of Wuhan, 200 to 300 feet deep into a cave, found viruses and took them back to a city of 15 million.”

Science!

Senator Paul explained that Fauci “knew from the very beginning not only was he funding the Wuhan research, but he was going around the regulatory apparatus to let it happen, even though the rules said it shouldn’t have happened without more scrutiny.”

Warming to his theme, Paul added, “This is a man, Anthony Fauci, who said in 2012 that this kind of research to create new viruses was so important that even if a pandemic should take place, that it’d be worth the knowledge. I think there’s several million people, particularly a million Americans, who would question whether that was good judgment or not.”

Without exaggeration, Senator Paul is a national treasure. And it is gratifying that corporate media’s embargo has fallen and it is finally publishing this kind of information. Fox is doing it on the right, and RFK is doing very similar things on the left.

Slow but steady wins the race.

💉 Country music star Toby Keith, 61, was in the news yesterday. His stomach cancer, newly diagnosed last year, says he’s doing much better and he hopes to “be on the road again soon.” Keith just wants to test his stamina. “All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we’ll go back to work,” he explained.

Keith told the Oklahoman that, while he’s still undergoing chemotherapy, his tumor has encouragingly decreased in size by one-third, and his blood tests have been showing signs of improvement. The singer optimistically opined he is “about eight weeks from my last scan. I expect next time I look for that tumor to be even less,” he said, “and I’ve only got one that’s shown up.”

But, he added soberly, “You never know with cancer, so you have to prepare.”

As a last ditch effort Toby plans to play his last three hits backwards, to see if he gets his truck, dog, and health back. Ba-da-bump.

💉 Latvian professional soccer player and international athletic star Gints Freimanis, 38, died earlier this month on June 6th, of systemic cancer. He was first diagnosed in October of 2021 with stage 4 skin cancer. Latvian news called it sudden and unexpected, labeling it a “shock diagnosis.”

The turbo cancer quickly metastasized to his liver, stomach, lungs, and kidneys. Last year Gints had multiple surgeries and chemo, and initially reported his cancer was under control. Then, in January, the footballer found out the cancer had spread to his brain. Game over.

💉 Brazilian star Paulinha Abelha, 43, lead singer of the band Calcinha Preta, died a week ago. She went into the hospital on February 11th with unspecific pain generally described as “kidney problems.” Three days later she was in a coma.

Paulinha died last Wednesday at 7:26 p.m. as a result of a “multisystemic involvement,” according to a statement from the hospital. She first noticed the pain while on tour in São Paulo and went to the hospital. But within a few days the singer was in a “deep coma.” She was later diagnosed with profound neurological injury and then brain death.

💉 In more unpleasant soccer news, former Irish midfielder Karolis Chvedukas, 32, died suddenly and unexpectedly two days ago on Monday. No cause of death was released.

Last month, Chvedukas had just begun playing for Lithuania, in Marijampole City.

I could find no details at all about his death, not when (daytime? Nighttime? Sleeping? Awake?) or where (at home? In the hospital? In a car?) or, obviously, HOW. The UK Daily Mail went so far as to use the word “mysterious” in its headline, which is accurate, and I think I’ll borrow that one going forwards.

💉 Last month on May 26, 2023, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Juan Carlos Formell, 59, died suddenly and unexpectedly of a mysterious heart attack WHILE ON STAGE during a live show in the Bronx. He was the second performer to die on stage in New York City in the last thirty days.

According to local reports, Formell was “carried off stage while the majority of the band, unaware of the disturbing events behind them, continued to perform.” Fans caught the Cuban bassist’s collapse on video.

Here’s a less morbid clip where you can get a taste of the former musician’s style.

🔥 In completely unrelated news, the Hill ran a story Monday headlined, “Biden Administration Launches Effort To Address Cancer Disparities Stemming From Poverty.”

The “news” was, as part of Biden’s so-called “Cancer Moon Shot,” the Biden Administration plans to issue a $50-million dollar grant to five cancer research centers, $10 million each. The article is jam-packed with wokabulary requiring translation. Fortunately Google translate speaks woke now.

They aren’t trying to cure cancer. When you translate the story to English, the grant is for studying disparities in healthcare for racially-disadvantaged people. That’s it. It was all dressed up in smart-sounding but mind-numbingly meaningless élite phrases like “research to understand the connections between institutions — such as social, economic, and health systems” and “measure the effectiveness of the structural interventions on cancer control and prevention.”

If they really wanted to quickly cure cancer, they’d just announce a transferable, lifetime exemption from income tax to the first doctor or research lab that came up with a one-shot cure. You wouldn’t even have to front any money.

But the truth is, they don’t want to cure cancer. These grants are handouts, government largesse, designed to slyly reward loyal democrat supporters with millions of dollars packaged in vaguely-described buzzword grants with no way anyone can ever tell whether anything meaningful was actually accomplished to earn the money.

This, after all, is the primary function of all this racial and gender grievance nonsense. It’s all about creating excuses for government to transfer tax money to unaccountable and immeasurable leftwing causes. Just ask yourself why Merrick Garland’s family is in the business of creating woke textbooks for preschoolers.

It’s a morally-depraved, kleptocratic scheme, but you have to admit, it’s working.

🚀 Lost in all the fake news about the Wagner Civil War, the Evening Standard ran a story late last week headlined, “Ukraine May Be ‘Pausing Counteroffensive’, Says Institute for the Study of War.”

According to the article, on June 17th, the Wall Street Journal reported that Ukrainian forces “have mostly paused their advances in recent days” as command in Kiev “re-examines tactics.”

Re-examines. That’s a euphemism for “licks its wounds.”

In its latest update on the war, the Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, said these news reports are consistent with their own recent observations of the “scale and approach” of local Ukrainian counterattacks in southern and eastern parts of the country. It added that it still does not look like Ukraine has launched its “main” effort yet.

The rationale for the “pause” was not clear, especially given that it provides the Russians even more time to shore up their defenses.

Headlines this week suggested a new push to lower liberal expectations, signaling nothing is going to happen anytime soon. From The Washington Post, this morning:

From the New York Times, this morning:

Haha, it’s not that the Russians are winning or anything. It’s the GROUND. The Ukrainians are being defeated by dirt.

The Times’ article, which is not paywalled, includes a helpful gigantic infographic with a large, scrollable battle map, pointing out all the different ways the devilish Russians have craftily frustrated the brave Ukrainian CounterOffensive™.

The Ukrainians have unlimited money, weapons, and ammo, and the Russians are — supposedly — isolated under crushing sanctions. Just saying.

🔥 Speaking of cancer, Medical News Today recently ran a very surprising and encouraging story headlined, “Dose of Measles Virus Destroys Woman’s Incurable Cancer.”

In what they describe as a proof of principle study, Mayo Clinic researchers were able to keep a woman with deadly multiple myeloma – an incurable bone marrow cancer – free of all signs of living cancer cells for over 6 months by giving her just one extremely high dose of measles virus directly into the bloodstream.

The study included two patients, and both responded, but one of the patients experienced a complete remission.

In short, the researchers found that measles virus has cancer-suppressing properties. Senior author Dr. Angela Dispenzieri, a multiple myeloma expert, said the measles virus essentially makes the cancer cells fuse together and explode. The treatment also appears to trigger another lasting benefit:

“There’s some suggestion that it may be stimulating the patient’s immune system to further recognize the cancer cells or the myeloma cells and help mop that up more effectively than otherwise.”

Lead author Dr. Stephen Russell said they have recently started considering “a single shot cure for cancer, and that’s our goal with this therapy.”

Anyway, it’s terrific news, and they need to hurry up. Because you know why.

But then I wondered about the relationship between childhood vaccines to prevent measles and the virus’s cancer-fighting properties. Any unintended consequences? Who knows.

What if this pandemic DOES lead to a cure for cancer? Wouldn’t that be something?
