WORLD NEWS AND COMMENTARY

🔥 Axios ran a story yesterday headlined, “Scoop: Schumer ditches Senate’s informal dress code.

Here’s the short version. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer amended the chamber’s rules this weekend, scratching the requirement that senators wear suits on the Senate floor.

Why? You know the reason:

image.png

He’d look better in a suit. Lurch, I mean Senator John Fetterman, has chicken legs. Obviously he isn’t wearing those clothes for the gym. Quit skipping leg day, dude!

Relax, I’m not criticizing his appearance, I’m just offering some workout tips. Don’t cancel me.

To be honest, I’m this close to sending John a Men’s Wearhouse gift card. Should we do a sort of multiplier and send him a few thousand $5 gift cards? We might make national news and a point. Let me know in the comments.

Anyway, if this keeps up, the Senate will soon resemble the 2am crowd at an urban Walmart.

🔥 Last week in the developing civil-rights case of Missouri v. Biden, after the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld an injunction shutting down the federal government censorship machine’s efforts to bully social media, the Biden Administration filed an emergency appeal to the United States Supreme Court. The Court agreed to hear the case, temporarily staying the injunction until September 22nd, to allow the parties to brief the issues.

Some folks have been worried that Justice Alito’s order granting the temporary stay was a bad sign.

It is not a bad sign.

First of all, this is typical. The Fifth Circuit did the exact same thing when it agreed to take the appeal and it temporarily stayed the injunction. But later it affirmed the injunction, albeit after trimming the injunction’s scope a little.

But second, the Supreme Court had to give the government a temporary stay in order to take the case. Think about it. Had the Supreme Court left the injunction in place, it would be affirming the order, and there would be no reason for the Court to review the injunction.

Regular readers will recall that when I reported the Fifth Circuit decision last week, and mentioned the possibility of a government appeal to the Supreme Court, I opined that the Court was probably dying to take the case.

I think I was right. I am even more convinced that the Supreme Court can’t wait to hear this case. At least, the conservative majority can’t. The Justices know full well that nearly everything the government tried to censor — natural immunity, failure of the shots to stop transmission, and early treatment options — all turned out to be wrong. Or at best, murky, in the case of early treatment options.

Get ready. This Supreme Court term is going to be lit.

🔥 In addition to Missouri v. Biden, this term the Supreme Court will hear a bunch of hyper-important cases that you probably never heard of. For example, one case we are watching carefully is Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo. The case challenges to the Court’s long-standing 1984 precedent that created so-called “Chevron deference.” Also called “Chevron doctrine,” it is an awful decision creating a rule that, when a law is unclear, judges must defer to “experts” from the federal agencies, so long as the experts are being “reasonable.”

“Reasonable” is the lowest standard in the law. It just requires the government to show any rational motivation. So the rule effectively barred judicial review of all but the most egregious federal regulations. Now it is coming under scrutiny right when “experts” are polling lower than doctors and tag agency workers.

“Chevron deference” gave the federal agencies vast powers, making their volumes of regulations virtually impossible to adequately review in real courts. And believe me, the agencies took advantage of that power. So if the Supreme Court overturns the Chevron doctrine, it will seriously curtail executive branch agency power. And it’s looking good. Many Court observers wonder, correctly, why would the Supreme Court agree to take Roper if they didn’t plan to trim the doctrine?

To give you an idea of how much the Roper case worries leftists, consider this totally not hysterical headline from Politico back in May when the Court accepted the case:

image 14.png

They’re doomed! Man the lifeboats! Women and marxists first!

So get ready. Although the Court isn’t hearing any hot-button social-issue cases this term, the term could wind up being just as significant for freedom as was the previous term.

Here’s a good Heritage article describing three important upcoming cases including Roper, if you want to read more.

📈 There is definitely something new going on with the narrative the Establishment Media is cooking up in its witchy political cauldron along with nematode noses and marinated mandrake root. CBS News ran a stunning anti-Biden article yesterday headlined, “CBS News Biden-Trump poll finds concerns about Biden finishing a second term, and voters’ finances also weigh on Biden.

Concerns!

Let’s begin with the least interesting part. Like Reuters did last Friday, CBS is now showing President Trump winning by a nose. CBS didn’t mention DeSantis one single time in the article, which is pretty remarkable regardless who you’re supporting. Instead, CBS intended its poll and the article to offer proof that Trump “can win” the nomination.

image 2.png

And CBS was trying hard. Jumping over all the middle bits — just about all of which was favorable to Trump — check out these last few paragraphs from CBS’s article, which paint a very grim electoral picture for President Peters:

Mr. Biden isn’t running quite as strongly right now with key Democratic constituencies he’d need. He still wins Hispanics, but with only 53%, and typically successful Democrats have gotten into the 60s. By two to one, more Hispanic voters say they’re worse off financially, rather than better off, than they were before the pandemic.
Mr.  Biden still overwhelmingly wins Black voters, but at 81%, it’s less than exit polls showed in 2020. Typically Democrats do better.
Each of Biden and Trump’s 2020 voters are overwhelmingly supporting them again this time around, so small shifts matter. Biden today is losing 7% of those who backed him in 2020 to Trump. Trump only gives up 3% of his.
Independents … make a good barometer: Mr. Biden is losing our “truly independent” definition today by -20 points. He was almost even with them in their 2020 votes.

According to CBS, Biden is losing with virtually every constituency he needs to win. (The only holdout was white, college educated democrats.)

Beleaguered conservatives are used to Establishment Media polls always predicting their candidates are definitely going to lose, right up till about 3 weeks before the election, when polls suddenly get a lot more accurate so pollsters don’t get totally humiliated.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but polls are not “news.” Polls can say anything media wants them to say, until close to the election. Polls can never be disproven, and thus they can’t ever be “wrong.”

But this long-form Biden vivisection is totally different. Democrats are notused to this kind of negative reporting about their candidates. Democrats are also more likely to follow the herd; while they might secretly dislike Biden, they will wait until they feel it’s safe to say so. So this kind of article can “dispirit” democrat voters; which is why deep state-captured Establishment media never shows this kind of result for a democrat.

Never.

It’s not yet clear to me why. Most likely they are trying to ensure Trump wins the nomination because they prefer to run against the guy facing four criminal cases and a 14th Amendment challenge, which might level the playing field with all Joe Biden’s legal problems. Or, they might be trying to ‘encourage’ Biden to drop out to make room for Gavin Newsom or another replacement candidate. Or, maybe this “news” is really intended to undermine Governor DeSantis’ campaign by boosting Trump’s electability — his greatest perceived negative.

What do you think? Why is CBS undermining Biden this way?

🔬 Canadian public-interest research group Correlation published a new study yesterday titled, “COVID-19 vaccine-associated mortality in the Southern Hemisphere.

image 3.png

The researchers analyzed publicly-available all-cause mortality data from 17 countries in the Southern Hemisphere, statistically comparing those figures with data from the jab rollout campaigns. They found tremendous benefits for people who took the vaccines.

Haha, just kidding! No, their conclusion were stark. Not only did the jabs notsave lives, but the shots consistently appeared to be killing people in large numbers. In the researchers’ own words:

In the 17 countries, there is no evidence in All-Cause Mortality (ACM) by time data of any beneficial effect of COVID-19 vaccines. There is no association in time between COVID-19 vaccination and any proportionate reduction in ACM. The opposite occurs.
Nine of the 17 countries have no detectable excess ACM in the period of approximately one year after a pandemic was declared on 11 March 2020 by the World Health Organization (WHO), until the vaccines are rolled out.
Unprecedented peaks in ACM occur in the summer (January-February) of 2022 in the Southern Hemisphere, and in equatorial-latitude countries, which are synchronous with or immediately preceded by rapid COVID-19-vaccine-booster-dose rollouts (3rd or 4th doses). This phenomenon is present in every case with sufficient mortality data (15 countries).

The authors concluded, logically, that governments should immediately end the policy of pushing shots on vulnerable elderly people, which is only considered elder abuse when non-government actors do it.

🔥 In case you missed it, back in May, only three weeks after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton started investigating Gain of Function research and covid-19 vaccine manufacturer deceptive practices, he was suddenly brought up on impeachment charges. Charges alleging bribery  — oh, the irony — and corruption.

On Saturday, after a nine-day trial, the Texas Senate acquitted Paxton on all charges.

image 4.png

Here the May 1st, 2023 announcement from Paxton’s office about his new Pharma investigation:

image 5.png

Totally unrelated, three weeks later, the Texas house filed impeachment articles on May 24th, 2023, which under Texas law automatically suspended Paxton from office during the proceedings.

💉 Celebrity plastic surgeon and star of the Reality-TV show “Botched,” Terry Dubrow, 65, who is married to “Real Housewives” star Heather Dubrow, recently had a mini-stroke while dining out at his favorite LA restaurant. He started talking nonsense for a minute then recovered. Heather immediately insisted he go right to the hospital, but since he’s the doctor around here, he initially refused, getting furious at his wife for humiliating him in front of their friends.

But she kept at it and he finally gave in, heading to his own hospital for an evaluation. Good thing, too. Since Heather saved his life, Dr. Dubrow ate some humble pie and described his terrifying near-death experience on Entertainment Tonight.

In the clip, Dubrow explained it wasn’t just the stroke. There was also cardiac involvement, coincidentally shared by a whole bunch of celebrities recently:

“But what was unusual was it wasn’t just an age-related stroke, I had what Emilia Clarke had, Aubrey Plaza, Hailey Bieber, I had a PFO — a patent foraminal ovale — which is an opening between the right and left side of the heart … but most people don’t get a clot passing over. (If I hadn’t gone to the hospital) I would’ve gone home, gone to bed, I may have died in my sleep, I may have had a terrible stroke, but at the end of the day, even if that didn’t happen in the next 24 hours, the chance it would happen in the next several months is a 20% chance I would’ve had a stroke and died. Heather Dubrow saved my life!”

I wonder how many other people have these kinds of incidents and don’thave their wife around to make them go to the hospital.

Fortunately, Dr. Dubrow says he is doing great now, back to his regular workouts, and we hope he stays that way.

💉 ‘Young and the Restless’ star and multiple daytime Emmy award-winner Billy Miller, 43, died suddenly, unexpectedly, and mysteriously on Friday AT HOME in Austin, Texas.

image 6.png

(Formerly) healthy Billy Miller, recently pumping some curls with his girlfriend.

Billy starred in over 700 Young and the Restless episodes, and played various roles in nearly 600 General Hospital shows. Media is suggesting he was manically depressed (which sounds like an oxymoron) — a potential neurological complication — but I didn’t find any news articles about his depression predating the announcement of his death.

Plus, fellow actors were shocked and saddened to hear of Billy’s untimely death.

image 7.png

Godspeed, Billy.

💉 U.S. Congresswoman Robin Kelly’s (D-Illinois) husband, Dr. Nathaniel Horn, 68, died suddenly, mysteriously and unexpectedly last month on Friday, August 18th.

image 12.png

No cause of death has been released.

Congresswoman Kelly took over Jesse Jackson, Jr.’s seat in 2013, and has been re-elected four times.

image 13.png

Dr. Horn left his wife, Kelly, and their two children. He followed the science right into the Great Beyond.

💉 Last week, Florida’s Department of Health issued its official government guidance on the new covid boosters. In addition to recommending against the shots for anyone healthy under 65, the guidance also requires providers ti discuss the risks even with patients 65 and older who want the shots.

Wait till you see the risks that doctors have to disclose to jab-happy seniors.

The guidance requires doctors to disclose the following list of jab “safety and efficacy concerns:”

  1. mRNA vaccines are associated with negative effectiveness.
  2. Studies show vaccinated developed an increased risk for infection.
  3. The shots present a risk of subclinical and clinical myocarditis and other cardiovascular conditions for healthy people.
  4. There is an unknown risk of adverse events with each additional dose.
  5. Elevated levels of spike protein persist in some people for an indefinite period of time, which increases health risks by an unknown amount.

The guidance included two pages of studies. In other words, Florida is following “the science.” Or, it has “the evidence.” Your pick.

Establishment Media was not happy about Florida informing seniors about the science. They might hesitate! Worse, according to the Washington Post, the new guidance “worries experts:”

image 8.png

As if the experts didn’t already have enough to worry about. What with the Pirola variant rising and everything.

Here is a link to the Florida’s Department of Health’s latest guidance, in case you know someone who might benefit from this information.

🔥 Chicago’s controlled demolition continues apace. Late last week, ABC affiliate 5-Chicago ran a story headlined, “Chicago exploring municipally-owned grocery store to address food insecurity.

For some goofy reason 5-Chicago ran a picture of the beef aisle, which probably breaks some kind of woke law or something.

image 9.png

Chicago’s marxist Mayor Brandon Johnson announced a “partnership” with a leftist ‘non-profit,’ the Orwellian Economic Security Project, to build a Soviet-style government-owned grocery store. It will be totally woke, intended to “promote food equity and accessibility for all Chicagoans,” according to the mayor’s press release.

Brandon didn’t say whether bread lines would be everyday or just on bread delivery day.

And, “food equity” meaning … what exactly? Everybody starves the same? I get “accessibility,” which means stores are leaving Chicago so fast that Brandon is worried taxpayers will start leaving too. As the article admitted:

City officials cited ongoing disinvestment that has led to a series of grocery store closures on the South and West sides of Chicago.

Haha, “disinvestment.” So … Chicago thinks it’s easier and cheaper to build government-run grocery stores instead of prosecuting shoplifting. Who wants to bet they’ll stop the shoplifting down hard in the government store?

If this thing gets off the ground, it would be the first government-owned grocery store in any major U.S. city. One suspects this fascist concept is the leading edge of the gruesome “15-minute city” plan, or “smart city” plan, or whatever they’re calling it now.

There’s a word for government-owning businesses like grocery stores, it’s called … um … I couldn’t remember what it was called, not exactly. So I asked Bard A.I.:

image 10.png

So there you have it, straight from artificial intelligence, which is manifestly better than Senatorial Intelligence. (See, e.g., above article. 👆)

🔥 This weekend, the Empire State Building bragged about lighting itself up in blue and cyan, in respectful observance of the Branch Covidian holiday season that begins with “New Booster Day.”

The building was mercilessly mocked in the comments, which I will link for your amusement.

image 15.png

The Empire State Building’s hilarious ratio and comment thrashing.

🔥 Last week, a jury unanimously acquitted all three defendants who the DOJ charged with “domestic terrorism” for falling for the FBI’s harebrained scheme to kidnap anti-gardening Michigan’s Governor, lockdown queen Gretchen Whitmer.

image 11.png

Clip of the jury announcing its decision (3:44).

The three tearful, overjoyed defendants had refused to take a government plea deal, gambling their futures on trial instead, hoping against hope that a small group of random strangers from the Michigan community would use common sense and defy the full weight of the United States government.

Boy, did the Founders know what they were doing when they created the jury system.

🔥 Finally, to get your week started off right, enjoy this informative and educational clip posted by heroic anti-trans activist Billboard Chris, which in just a few seconds completely demolishes the argument that kids should be allowed to pick their own gender:

image 16.png

CLIP: This is why you don’t let kids pick their gender.

Well. I mean, they were fresh out of the box. Which one would you pick?

Have a magnificent Monday! God willing, C&C shall return tomorrow morning with more critically-important sarcasm plus some long-overdue mocking of experts.
