They Said It Was Safe Back Then, Too.

My story is about the Polio Vaccine and how it impacted my entire life. Hi there – Im “Wejolyn” on X and on Substack; Wendy to those that know me. Back in 1965 I was 7 years old at school in Vancouver, BC (Canada). That day we were told to take into our mouths a sugar cube with a vaccine on it. Everyone lined up and followed orders.
What I didn’t know was that that vaccine was the Sabin oral polio vaccine (OPV), which was live/attenuated. OPV is a live virus vaccine. The attenuated strains can, (as they say) “in rare cases” revert to virulence and cause “vaccine-associated paralytic polio (VAPP)”
Within hours I could not walk on my left leg. I was rushed to St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver. They didn’t know what to do with me -I was such an active child – racing around the children’s area in a wheelchair and they needed me immobile so I was put in a body cast. That is, from head to toe – with the “good leg” out. My life for 3-1/2 months was laying in bed on Pencillin drip. 3-1/2 months is a long time for a 7 year old. Its a long time for anyone, and in those months this was where, now, as a health practitioner I understand what happened to me. I understand the “bombing” of my immune system with antibiotics and how it also affected my biome. I understand as well the possibility of SV-40 (and its long term health effects) being in my ‘vaccine’. Simian Virus 40 is a virus that naturally lives in rhesus monkey kidneys. It doesn’t make monkeys sick. But when it gets into humans its a different story. Its oncogenic – this means it causes cancer. In lab animals, SV-40 produces brain tumors, bone cancers, mesotheliomas and lymphomas. Its a small DNA virus from the polyomavirus family, and once it integrates into human cells, it can disrupt tumor-suppressed genes. Both the Salk and Sabin vaccines were grown in monkey kidney cell cultures from rhesus macaques. You need living cells to grow virus in and the monkey kidneys were the factory. They were often infected with SV-40. The formaldehyde inactivation process for the Salk shot was supposed to kill everything – poliovirus and any contaminants. But SV-40 is tougher than polio. The formaldehyde doesn’t always get it all. With the Sabin OPV- the one I took – there was no inactivation step at all – it was a live vaccine. The SV-40 came along for the ride.
Between 1955-63 “it is estimated that 10-30 million Americans and millions more worldwide” – including Canadians like me-received polio vaccines contaminated with live SV-40. The contamination was discovered in 1960 by Dr. Bernice Eddy at the NIH, who injected the vaccines into hamsters and watched tumors erupt and reported it. The response from her superiors was to take away her lab and her staff. The official line for many years on the SV-40 was that “there is no evidence of increased cancer rates”. But SV-40 has been found in human tumors- mesotheliomas, brain cancers, bone cancers, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma – in people who were never exposed to monkeys. How would it have gotten there unless it was delivered? The virus integrates into the host genome. It disables p53 and Rb, two critical tumor suppressor proteins. The mechanism is understood. The presence in tumors is documented. The connection to the vaccine is established. The Institute of Medicine in 2002 said the evidence was “inconclusive” – which is the highest form of institutional admission we’ll probably ever get – they can’t rule it out.
After 3-1/2 months my leg was working, but weak. I was put on crutches and I was immediately sent back to school – both my parents worked, and I could not be at home. But I had changed. I couldn’t learn well. In fact, I couldn’t see the blackboard and needed glasses. I had had perfect eyesight prior. I was sick all the time as well – no bowel movements for days at a time, horrid brain fog/inability to concentrate and migraine headaches that were so severe I was sent home from school regularly – at least once a week, vomiting with no eyesight for 3 days at a time. No one had a cause. They’d say: well your dad had pretty bad headaches just like you – its hereditary. Acne scarred my face, back and chest. At this time antibiotics were the answer and I was given tetracycline regularly from puberty right through to 22 years old. They gave it for the acne. When I hit about 16 years old I discovered I could play sports and I loved them. Back in those days racquetball was big and I ended up playing for Canada and traveling almost every weekend. My family doctor was thrilled. I was such a “success story”! Here I am, on my crutches – Christmas 1966:

After graduation from high school there came about 8 years of relative health. I was traveling and playing racquetball and working at a law firm as a Word Processor. When I was about 25 I was married. By 27 I had my first child. My first child’s delivery was normal, but my son was covered in thrush. I remember how severe it was, but no one understood. Then, of course he was given his infant vaccines. And from then there was colic and inability to digest. Eventually I was able to nurse him but now I look back and see what was happening. I had two more children after my son and from about 29 years of age my health completely deteriorated. This was about 1990. No computers, no internet. Thus began the merry-go-round of over 26 doctors and unneeded surgeries. I was now living in the US, and we had ‘good health coverage’ via my ex-husband’s job.
The horrible unending body pain was put down to fibromyalgia and thankfully there were no meds for that yet. Then, by the later-90’s the doctors decided that I must have that “gulf war syndrome thing’ and told me it was Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Another doctor tested my ANA levels and decided it was Lupus. He wanted me on malaria drugs for that right away. I did not take them. Then they said “we think you have MS because your balance is off and you are exhibiting other classic symptoms”… and they suggested another drug. No.
And then… from the closest source of all, my ex-husband told the doctor on our next visit that I was “crazy”. He thought my REAL problem was mental. I did not know he had a secret life he was protecting and so… a new chapter of about 8 years length began. Effexor (anti-depressant), Klonopin (Benzodiazepine), Flexeril (for FM), and sleep meds. I was a zombie. I was homeschooling my kids back then and used tutors. I was involved in their lives but much of life for me was through a fog.
By the year 2000 I started my own health recovery. I began to wean off of all the drugs. It took me 2 solid years -I had to do it on my own. I had discovered Dr. William Crook’s book – “The Yeast Connection” and learned about Candida Albicans. I took natural antifungals and changed my diet- a lifetime of antibiotic use had not only destroyed healthy bacteria but had caused leaky gut syndrome and severe fungal overgrowth. I began doing colonics and saunas. I learned about parasites and found I had Blastocystis hominis and h.Pylori bacterial infection. They even found Giardia. We had been making homemade bread – grinding our own flour – I was tested for Gluten Intolerance and it was positive- all 3 of my children as well. Bread/Wheat, Corn, Soy and Rice were out. In the next two years I went through a divorce and went back to school. I became a Clinical Nutritionist (California) and then learned to be a colon hydrotherapist. I worked my way up to National Board certification. I became an FDN so I could do lab testing. Lastly I became an ADAPT Certified Functional Health Coach through the Kresser Institute. My life was radically changed. After this I met Dr. Frank Shallenberger and took his 3 day Seminar on Medical Ozone Therapy in Marina Del Ray, CA. I can say without a shadow of a doubt, though other things were helpful – the Ozone fundamentally changed me at a mitochondrial level. I bought my own equipment and started using it regularly at home. I had energy at a level I had never felt before.
And then. The shock. I found a lump in my left breast. How was this possible? I had come so far. I was devastated. I had 3 months of Insurance coverage left after the divorce and used it to see a local oncologist. They did a biopsy and they also discovered I also carry the ‘breast cancer gene’ . Now, the recommendation was a double mastectomy, “probably” lymph removal, chemo and radiation. The day the doctor told me I had cancer, they had already made all the appointments. The surgery, chemo radiation, etc. appointments. They were adamant I must do everything “now”… fast. This bothered me. I left. I was able to contact Dr. Shallenberger and ask him if he would inject ozone into the tumor – he had spoken of it in his teachings. He did not want to do it and I would have had to go to Germany to have it done. I went back to the oncologist and asked for lumpectomy only. The doctor was angry, would not help me and insisted on his way only. My regular doctor (a DO) talked with him and he reluctantly agreed. I had had testing done to see it there was lymph involvement and there was NONE.
I went in for the lumpectomy and came out with Lymph removal, as well as the lumpectomy. I was livid. Prior to the lumpectomy I had been funneling ozone gas over the lump in my breast regularly and two weeks later when the pathology results came back from my surgery (tumor) they were surprised to find there were no ‘cancer cells’ or ‘legs’ growing around the tissue edges of the tumor removal. They could not understand why. I could. Of course they tried to make me do some radiation “just in case” around the surgery area – I refused. I refused all pain meds and used ozone to heal the areas I was cut. This was 2005 and I have been free of the autoimmune disorders and any cancer. I have been healthy and well. I have learned that according to that oncologist I cannot say I am ‘cured’ from cancer – even 21 years later – because I carry the gene. I can only say I’m in remission. But I believe I am cured. I live a normal life though my diet is mostly very low carb with lots of animal meats and animal fat. I regularly use the ozone sauna and other modalities to stay active. My left leg, now at 67 years old does give me weird aches and pains. It is 1/4 inch shorter than my right leg and I am always out of alignment as my chiropractor likes to say. I have to regularly work to keep my left leg working properly and its interesting that the breast tumor was also on my left side.
When the (so called) pandemic came along, I was WIDE AWAKE. I saw the world powers and authorities and all that came with it for what they were. I tried to warn people every day, over and over – mostly to no avail.
This article is dedicated to my son Cody who passed from this world December 5, 2025. His faith is now sight. He is in the presence of His Savior. My son had struggled his whole life with not being able to focus and I believe he was damaged with infant vaccines. He ended up living much of his 20’s-30’s self-medicating and at 40 was in the process of getting his health and life recovered when a car hit him and he was killed. I live every day as a mother with the grief of his loss and also not knowing back when he was born what I now know. If this article helps ONE person in any way, may all the glory go to the Lord Jesus Christ. My final word that I want to say is that no matter what comes against you God has the final say:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” Jeremiah 29:11
