Governor Greg Abbott (R) said that his Democratic opponent, Gina Hinojosa, will threaten Texas with Sharia law and mass immigration should she become governor.
“We cannot have foreign adversaries coming in and buying our property,” Abbott declared. “We must not allow a candidate like my opponent who supports Sharia law to ever have control over the levers of government in the state of Texas!”
“Gina supports that endorsement that she got from them because she supports Sharia law, she supports Sharia communities,” the governor told Fox News. “What I’m focused on doing is making sure that we ban Sharia law, Sharia cities, Sharia compounds.”
The statement comes as Abbott’s campaign released an ad calling Hinojosa “dangerous” for the state of Texas.
“Gina Hinojosa is too radical for Texas. She supports deadly open-border policies, higher taxes, and even wants to give illegal immigrants taxpayer-funded healthcare. Texans have a decision to make: the chaos that Gina Hinojosa would bring or the common-sense leadership of Governor Abbott,” said Texas for Greg Abbott Communications Director Catherine Frazier.
Similarly, Eduardo Leal, Texans for Greg Abbott Press Secretary, detailed Hinojosa’s backing from terror entities. “It’s no surprise that a known Islamic terror organization prefers Gina Hinojosa in the governor’s race,” said Leal. “Gina Hinojosa has voted in favor of Muslim-only compounds across Texas, voted against giving the State of Texas the authority to designate foreign terrorist organizations, and supported judges using Sharia law in Texas courts. Gina’s pattern of support for a foreign terrorist organization is not only dangerous, but shows she consistently sides with radical extremists over law-abiding Texans.”
