It’s become best to avoid the gritty, in-the-trenches coverage of the Proxy War, since the propaganda has long reached Baghdad Bob levels on Ukraine’s side, and the media simply stops its ears to the Russians, who aren’t above a little strategic misdirection themselves. (Though, to its credit, Moscow doesn’t outright lie with anything near Kiev’s bold and joyful enthusiasm). But two days ago, Politico ran this smoke signal of a story, which struck a discordant note similar to the sounds produced by a two-year-old trying to settle the needle on a classic LP record:
As the Proxy War missiles toward its fourth anniversary next February —how time flies!— we’re all jaded to the mendacious media coverage, to a point that behavioral psychologists clinically refer to as “sick and tired.” Ukraine-flags-in-bio pics have vanished more entirely than coin-operated pay phones, since even gullible, “just tell me what to think” Democrats have lost interest.
But now Politico has published a “dark,” journalistic hit job on Zelenskyy (using the formal spelling with two-y’s), all but accusing him of the current worst possible thing: authoritarianism. No Kings!!! Media stopped ignoring and actually quoted overthrown former Ukraine president Viktor Poroshenko, who, the paper said, “accused Zelenskyy of creeping authoritarianism and seeking to remove any competitor from the political landscape.”
And for good measure, it then quoted Anti-Corruption Center activist Daria Kaleniuk, who said “the president and his coterie are using the war to monopolize power to such a degree that it threatens the country’s democracy.” And there you have it: Brave little Zelensky —the penis pianist himself— is destroying democracy.
I probably would have still ignored the story, since we’ve seen these kinds of one-off hit pieces before. They would mysteriously crop up whenever Zelensky was being stubborn about something the Biden Administration wanted him to do, and then disappear right back down the media memory hole.
But just as I was moving on to something more interesting, this Ukrainian video popped up in my YouTube feed, titled “How Zelensky Fooled Us in Ukraine”:
The video delved into long-known facts about Zelensky’s unaccountable ascension to Ukraine’s Presidency as a political outsider. In a neatly packaged nine minutes (YouTube’s sweet spot), the sweet young lady describes (in a heavy accent, but in English) the unfunny comedian’s pre-presidential links to oligarchs, the CIA, and most of all his appearance in the infamous Wikileaks dump that will be forever jovially known as the “Pandora Papers.”
Put simply, while he was still just a simple, hardworking comedian, Zelensky apparently owned a dizzying network of offshore accounts, shadow corporations, cutouts, and a whole lot of money. Fellow “banking customers” involved in the leak included cartel kingpins, sketchy politicians, mafia bosses, and, probably even Hitler himself, if he is still actually alive and living in Bolivia like they say.
You tell me why a scrappy, hardworking comedian with a startup Eastern European TV show needed a complicated, international asset protection plan that fewer than 1% of CPAs could even understand. Certainly, the Green Sweatshirt has never explained it. (And the media has never asked. So.) Another baffling mystery.
Or … everything is fake and gay. You decide.
In its own way, the little YouTube hit job video was even more remarkable than the Politico hit job story. Under color of Soviet-era war powers, Ukraine has crushed dissenting social media voices so brutally and thoroughly that it would make Saddam Hussein’s deranged sons blush with embarrassment. I checked twice, and it seems the cheerful young lady who made the anti-Zelensky clip lives in Ukraine. Her voice should be cracking with terror, not all smiley and chipper, and she should be glancing around nervously, looking out for the brute squad.
Predicting Zelensky’s imminent downfall is premature. But something feels different this time. I can’t wait!

Yesterday’s post included a very welcome update about President Trump’s declaration of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), over its toleration of decades-long Christian persecutions by muslim terrorists. We have a new development. In the face of bizarre denials by the Nigerian government —denials as unconvincing as a Nigerian phishing email— the Hill ran an update story headlined, “Trump threatens military action in Nigeria, citing alleged killings of Christians.” It’s becoming commonplace now for media to just avoid the thankless efforts of actual journalism and just report directly from one of Trump’s Truth Social posts. In this case, war:
War Secretary Hegseth, with “guns-a-blazing,” blazed promptly on Twitter/X,sparing reporters from the horrible burden of having to email the War Department for a response:
What any of this pugilistic talk actually means is anyone’s guess, except that the comments flowed with expressions of gratitude from harried Nigerian citizens.
Besides the social media posts, the Hill interviewed zero experts, no Boko Haram jihadists, and no Nigerian pastors. The article did cite a 2025 figure of only around 317 total murdered Christians, a figure wildly inconsistent with other sources, though the Hill didn’t mention the discrepancy. Then it claimed more muslims had been killed by Christians (417). So.
What the Hill (and the other corporate platforms) most certainly did not do is interview and quote any Nigerians, say ones who were related to murdered people or who live in the conflict zones. That kind of thing requires work; work that is currently required for covering the plight of muslims in Palestine. To observe the appalling coverage contrast, pick any similar story in the Hill about Palestine, and you’ll find volumes of the ‘on-the-ground’ human interest stories and related photo galleries.
It’s not like Nigeria is on Alpha Centauri. They could quote some locals if they wanted to. But they mulishly don’t want to, for some reason. So … if all they’re going to do is quote Trump’s Truth Social posts … what do we need journalists for? But never mind.
One of President Trump’s favorite slogans is peace through strength. So far, he hasn’t fired a single missile or even blown up a Boko Haram rowboat paddling around Lake Placid. In fact, all the President has actually done is type two Truth Social posts.
By simply saying stuff on Truth Social, he’s already done more to help Nigerian Christians than anyone in history.

On Friday, the UK Daily Mail ran an exclusive article (i.e., no one else would run it) headlined, “Claim Soros charities funneled $40M for Mamdani in tax-dodging scheme.” Prepare to be shocked.
With two days to go before the election, the long knives of character assassination are fully drawn for New York’s muslim-socialist combo candidate Zohran Mamdani, 34. For example, consider this cleverly-framed hit piece from this morning’s New York Times. They’re just asking:
Hard as this is to believe, the Daily Mail’s exclusive reported that George Soros & Co. funneled $40 million into the Mamdani campaign through a bewildering array of tax-exempt NGOs, non-profits, and activist groups.
I suspect Mamdani’s unaccountable success is related to the fact that “Zohran” sounds like some kind of warmup-act mentalist, a stage magician who picks a random woman out of the audience and then, shazam!, shows them their brassiere. Behold, for my next trick, I will saw my beautiful assistant, Bernie Sanders, in half.
Unlike lazy corporate media reporters, conservative investigative site White Collar Fraud unearthed mountains of documentary evidence by painstakingly tracing donations in public records. Their diligent work strongly suggested that parsimonious billionaire George Soros tried to avoid paying taxes by funding pro-Mamdani efforts through tax-exempt entities, which is not allowed. Tax-exempt entities are prohibited from campaigning for particular candidates. 501C’s can advocate for issues, but not people.
So, for example, Soros’ doorknockers are allowed to greet interrupt residents’ dinnertimes with a cheerful “magic isn’t just for kids!”, but may not add “and so vote for Zohran the Magnificent!”
For a variety of boring reasons that I won’t trouble you with, these kinds of allegations are devilishly hard to prove. Probably on purpose. Plus, even when the IRS does pursue the rare case, it is almost always against conservative groups. This creates a strategic disadvantage, since progressive 501C’s can safely ignore the rules.
Still, in a burst of wild optimism, White Collar Fraud said it filed 11 whistleblower complaints with the Internal Revenue Service. I’m not holding my breath.
🔥 Also unsurprisingly, the polls have tightened, like they always do. Mamdani still leads Andrew Cuomo, but by just +6 points, for whatever that’s worth. As it stands this morning, Mamdani is the front-runner among 1,500 likely voters with 40%, Independent Andrew Cuomo holds a solid 34%, and Republican Curtis Sliwa is trailing but still in the race at 24%.
At least, thank Heavens, the polls suggest that a solid 60% of New York City voters oppose Islamo-socialism.
Today is the final day of early voting, and Tuesday is Election Day. Sane New Yorkers face an appalling choice between disgraced Luv Gov and Nursing Home Killer Cuomo and an open socialist with zero governing experience. Best of luck, guys.
As Elon prophetically quipped, “the most entertaining outcome is the one most likely to happen.” I can’t wait. Maybe they’ll elect Mamdani, and he’ll dazzle Democrat audiences by dramatically stripping off his rubber mask and revealing he was really Manuel Noriega all along. Or maybe Elvis.

Moderna, the company that pushed covid jabs on the world, has gotten a deadly virus. It could be fatal. On Thursday, Pharma mag Stat News ran a story you won’t find anywhere but the industry papers, headlined, “How Moderna, the company that helped save the world, unraveled.” Saved the world? Please. Anyway, the sub-headline added, “After missteps and misfortune, the biotech confronts a precarious future.” Who could have seen this coming?
Moderna’s ‘plan,’ if you can call it that, was “to plow the profits and know-how from its Covid coup into a new crop of mRNA vaccines and therapies that would change medicine and turn Moderna into one of the largest drugmakers on the planet.”
One thing is certain. Even Scrooge McDuck would have been jealous of the mountain of money Moderna extracted from the world’s taxpayers.
But today, only a handful of fiscal quarters later, Stat —as enthusiastic a Moderna booster as you could ask for— reported that “Moderna faces a crisis.” For one thing, the mRNA-based drugmaker’s stock price is headed straight down. “Moderna’s market value has fallen by more than 90% — $185 billion, or a full Sony — from its 2021 peak to around $10 billion this month.”
According to Stat’s “story of Moderna’s great unraveling,” the company may not “survive in its present shape.” On Friday, Stat reported Moderna was in negotiations to be acquired by or merged with an undisclosed buyer. The news nudged the stock a couple bucks higher.
In this article, Stat dazzled readers with tales of bad luck: “misfortunes” like difficult FDA authorizations, Kennedy’s irrational cancellation of a $766 million grant for ‘bird flu’ vaccines, and other miscellaneous setbacks.
But one glaring fact stood out: the company that specialized in mRNA tech has no more drugs that work.
One might fairly wonder —if, that is, one were not a Stat reporter— where all the money went. The ugliest fact is that Moderna lavished billions and billions on dozens of “warp speed” mRNA-based projects in what the financial mags generously called a “shots on goal” strategy. But in spite of forecasting ten+new products by 2027, nearly every single planned product is now defunct. Dozens of vaccine candidates and therapeutics have failed, stalled, or been deprioritized, one after another.
For example, consider this Fierce Biotech headline from just ten days ago:
It’s almost like they can’t clear trials without a blind FDA. Under Kennedy’s HHS, they must actually prove the damned things work. In the trial cited above, Moderna was required to show its trial vaccine preventedcytomegalovirus infection (not just showed antibodies).
The new standards are tougher than the relaxed pandemic requirements. So far, Moderna’s record is zero for twenty-plus.
Now the covid jabmaker is focused, not so much on making mRNA drugs, but on budget cuts and layoffs. The company is down to ‘only’ $6 billion in cash reserves, having burned through hundreds of billions in pandemic windfalls with nothing to show for it except enriching a demon’s inventory of executives who will probably burn like kindling in the next life.
The only real avenue of hope remaining is development of “personalized” cancer treatments using mRNA. That goal has been around for decades, and was long abandoned by other big drugmakers. Maybe they can do it. But I wouldn’t bet on it.
The temptation to feel joyful schadenfreude is nearly irresistible. Moderna might have been a fake front all along, who knows, but the covid curse has infected another key player. Maybe Pfizer will be next. This morning, The Motley Fool asked the question:
What do you think?
