After attaining what Johns Hopkins refers to as an “above world average” COVID-19 vaccination rate, infections in the European Union have not gone down but reached 1.5 million last week, up 8% from the week before.

QUICK FACTS:
  • A new COVID-19 surge is looming in Europe despite the majority of the region being “fully” vaccinated against the disease, raising questions about the drug’s advertised ability to prevent infection.
  • “WHO data released late on Wednesday showed that cases in the European Union (EU) reached 1.5 million last week, up 8% from the prior week, despite a dramatic fall in testing,” Reuters reports.
  • Not only that, hospitalization numbers across many countries in the 27-nation region, including Britain, have also gone up in recent weeks: “In the week ended Oct 4, COVID-19 hospital admissions with symptoms jumped nearly 32% in Italy, while intensive care admissions rose about 21%, compared to the week before, according to data compiled by independent scientific foundation Gimbe.” COVID hospitalizations in Britain “saw a 45% increase versus the week earlier.”
  • Elevated COVID cases and hospitalizations in the EU are especially significant considering how the percentage of the bloc’s fully vaccinated population is considered “above world average,” according to metrics used by the Johns Hopkins coronavirus resource center.
  • Over 63% of the EU’s population is considered “fully vaccinated,” per Google data, which is based on numbers coming from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
MEDICAL EXPERTS SAY US INFECTIONS WILL RISE, TOO:
  • The director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Michael Osterholm, said that “In the past, what’s happened in Europe often has been a harbinger for what’s about to happen in the United States.”
  • “So I think the bottom line message for us in this country is: We have to be prepared for what they are beginning to see in Europe,” Osterholm added.
  • This is despite the fact that the United States is nearly 70% fully vaccinated, also calling into question the COVID-19 vaccine’s effectiveness.
BACKGROUND:
  • There have been 31,214 deaths linked to COVID-19 vaccines along with 1,424,789 reported vaccine injuries as of Sep 23, according to data from the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).
  • Over 6 million users have reported being injured by COVID vaccines through the CDC’s “V-safe” app, Moderna and Pfizer’s jabs accounting for the vast majority of adverse events.
