Harvard president resigns. So what?

And one result is that truly worthy people of color, whether women or men, are stigmatized or discounted for positions they should be considered for. And the entire system of DEI bears responsibility. mrossol

A few posts ago, I wrote about the Harvard president. There was clear evidence of plagiarism in 50% of her scholarly work. Discussed here. She has now resigned
Honestly, this is the bare minimum. Perhaps before we choose academic leaders, we could spend a little of bit of time evaluating their scholarship.
I don’t believe a good administrator has to be a top researcher. In fact, the top researchers are usually bad leaders. But I do believe that you have to have a basic understanding of scholarship to be an academic leader. You have to understand what plagiarism is.
It is truly amazing how high Claudine Gay rose while failing to meet this basic standard.
