Nearly 7,000 rioters have been arrested and more than 1,000 injured as France descends into chaos, with Muslim immigrants and radical leftists joining forces in what observers are calling a coordinated assault on Western civilization.
The violence, which has now spread into neighboring Belgium, has left one teenager without a hand and another reportedly partially blinded in clashes with police. Hundreds of French schools have closed or remain shut down as the unrest shows no signs of stopping.
What began as a faculty protest at Saint-Exupery High School over budget cuts quickly spiraled into something far more sinister. Students joined the demonstrations, similar protests erupted across the country, and activists moved in to transform peaceful gatherings into fiery street battles.
President Trump has weighed in on the crisis, noting that the rioters are largely Muslim immigrants and radical leftists working in concert.
Writer John Daniel Davidson recently argued in The Federalist that the current situation in France demonstrates the operational reality of what’s known as the Red-Green Alliance, the partnership between socialist and Antifa elements on the left and Muslim immigrant populations.
“This is the Red-Green alliance of the socialist/Antifa left and Muslim immigrants, operationalized to bring the country to its knees through widespread rioting ahead of national elections next year,” Davidson wrote. The two groups have united, he explained, “to tear down western institutions and the Christian faith on which they were built.”
On the surface, Islamists and radical leftists appear to have little in common. Davidson correctly points out that “on issues like women’s rights, transgenderism, gay marriage and the sexual revolution in general, they are not aligned.” But these differences amount to window dressing when compared to what truly binds them together: spreading their ideology through aggression and confiscating the wealth of others.
While these characteristics are well understood as features of communism, most Westerners have been conditioned not to associate them with Islam. Western schools have done their utmost to obscure the historical reality that Islam spread by the sword and through plunder.
For Christians, plundering enemies and enslaving populations are gravely sinful acts. In Islam, such actions are fully permitted in the name of spreading the faith.
What’s unfolding in France today isn’t simply a protest over school funding. It’s the latest chapter in a centuries-old struggle, with the same alliance now threatening to bring a Western nation to its knees ahead of crucial elections.
