🔥 The game is afoot! Yesterday, as you must already be aware, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the initiation of a formal presidential impeachment inquiry into the former Vice-President, Joseph Robinette Biden. McCarthy’s comments at the clip:

An impeachment inquiry can be opened in two ways. The first, traditional, way is a vote of the full House of Representatives, which until President Trump’s term was the only way you could do it. The new second way has been called the “Pelosi Precedent,” where the Speaker of the House can just “announce” an impeachment inquiry, and bingo-bongo, you’re cooking with gas. That’s how former Speaker Pelosi started the Trump impeachments, both of them, breaking from prior procedure and creating a whole new easier and faster way.

It was turbo impeachment! So, that’s what Kevin McCarthy did. He just followed the Pelosi Precedent and announced the impeachment. It only takes one person now. Game on.

There seems to be some confusion over whether McCarthy actually commenced impeachment proceedings. He did. And if you have any doubt, Establishment Media sure thinks he did:

Speaking of fiesty Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), she explained the process at length yesterday. She also confirmed that the impeachment process has in fact begun. Clip:

Is the long-awaited Biden impeachment a good thing? Some Republicans wonder whether there is even any point in trying to impeach President Peters, since the Senate is unlikely to vote to convict, no matter what the evidence shows.

There are two compelling reasons why impeachment is necessary.

First, as Marjorie explained in the above clip, the hearings and the investigation could roll right through November 2024, giving Republicans a high-profile forum to drip out damaging information on Biden, which could arguably help with the presidential campaign.

That might also explain Governor Newsom’s stealth presidential campaign. If Biden steps out and doesn’t run for a second term, democrats will start wailing that the impeachment inquiry is moot, since there’d be no chance or even any point in removing Biden before next year’s election.

But second, and maybe even more important, the impeachment inquiry turbo-charges the House’s investigative powers. For example, Biden directed the National Archives to refuse to turn over 5,400 emails he sent under his various clever pseudonyms like “Robert L. Peters.”

With impeachment powers, the National Archives must now turn those emails over to House investigators. I can’t wait to see them.

Democrats are in denial, so far keeping a brave face on that this impeachment thing is just a lot of political smoke and no bribery fire. So let’s turn to the democrats’ clownish argument that there is “no evidence” Biden did anything wrong and the whole thing is a partisan witch hunt.

The Evidence

Democrats are claiming there’s no “evidence” Joe Biden did anything wrong. It’s a go-to argument for democrats (see, e.g., “no evidence” of election fraud), but it won’t work this time.

First of all, keep in mind that during the first Trump impeachment, the only “evidence” required by democrats was some highly-sketchy testimony from a sold-out partisan witness about something Trump said on the phone that, if you twisted it just the right way, could possibly be interpreted as being improper political pressure for partisan purposes. In other words, “quid pro quo!”

Ironically, the call fueling Trump’s first impeachment discussed the exact same Biden corruption in Ukraine that is now driving Biden’s own impeachment investigation (from Epoch Times):

It’s impossible to argue about evidence without first defining terms. So let’s start by defining what “evidence” is, under the law, since the legal standard is what applies to impeachment inquiries. Don’t let anyone gaslight you on the definition of “evidence.” Here’s how Black’s Law Dictionary, a recognized authority that can be cited in legal memoranda, defines “evidence:”

Something, including testimony, documents, and tangible objects, that tends to prove or disprove the existence of an alleged fact; anything presented to the senses and offered to prove the existence or nonexistence of a fact.

In short, “evidence” is anything that tends to prove or disprove the existence of an alleged fact. That’s it. “Circumstantial evidence” is evidence.  Granted, some types of evidence can be excluded under some circumstances, such as hearsay, but those things are still evidence. They’re just called “inadmissible evidence.”

The way democrats try to confuse people is they conflate the word “evidence” with “absolute proof.” When they say “there’s no evidence,” they actually just mean “you can’t prove it.” It’s an argument from ignorance. If you asked democrats, they wouldn’t agree that bank statements, for example, are evidence, even though bank statements are used as evidence every single day.

Democrats just want to argue about what the bank statements mean.

But no one needs to engage with that kind of argument. The decision about what evidence means is not up to democrats or anyone else, it is up to the legal fact finder: the judge, the jury, or the House of Representatives in this situation.

Here’s how Republican Representative Scott Perry responded to an Establishment Media reporter demanding “evidence” of high crimes and misdemeanors. Note that the reporter pretended not to understand what “evidence” means. Perry described a bunch of evidence. Later, another representative cited the lack of prosecution of Hunter Biden for his obvious FARA violations, which is also “evidence.” Here’s the clip:

From comments to the various impeachment-related Twitter posts, it’s obvious that a common democrat talking point is “there might be evidence to impeach Hunter, but he’s not the president!”  The implication being that Republicans might be able to prove Hunter committed some crimes, but can’t link Hunter to Joe.

That’s a rubbish argument, and here’s why.

If a politician does a “favor” for a crime boss, and the crime boss pays the politician’s wife, it’s still bribery. If the crime boss pays the politician’s crackhead son on account of the favor, it’s still bribery. So, evidence that Joe Biden did a favor for a shady Ukrainian oligarch who was paying Hunter millions — for doing nothing — is also evidence that Joe Biden was bribed.

It’s up to the judge or jury to evaluate (“weigh”) all the admitted evidence and decide whether it’s more likely that Biden took a bribe or whether it was all just a fabulous coincidence. In the case of impeachment, the “jury” is ultimately the full House of Representatives.

Apart from Biden’s Bribery, what about Hunter’s Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA) violations? Isn’t that just Hunter’s business? What does that have to do with President Peters?

Everything!

In my opinion, when Biden directed his DOJ to not prosecute his sex-trafficking son who was peddling political influence and lobbying for shady oligarchs without registering, that was also “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

And I bet a lot of folks would agree with me. The excuse that “any loving father would do the same thing” is a defense Biden’s lawyers can try out during the impeachment hearings.

Finally, Republicans aren’t required to already have all the evidence in order to justify starting the impeachment process, because it begins with an investigation.

For instance, if democrats say, well, you can’t prove Biden corruptly influenced the DOJ — that’s what the impeachment investigation is for! It’s about collecting all the evidence to prove the case. Maybe the DOJ has been keeping secret its wonderfully compelling reason why it never prosecuted Hunter. The DOJ can now reveal that compelling reason under oath if it wants to.

But of course, the democrats don’t really mean there’s no evidence anyway. It’s just the politics of convenience. Former Fox News commenter Kyle Becker made a great point yesterday, comparing and contrasting the tiny scraps of “evidence” required for the democrats’ two Trump impeachment inquiries versus the Republicans’ mountain of actual evidence against Joe Biden:

Finally, I would be remiss if I failed to mention the historic significance of the Biden Impeachment Proceedings. Three out of the last four presidents have now faced impeachment (Clinton, Trump, and now Biden). While I agree — a hundred percent — there is more reason to impeach President Peters than maybe any other president in history, this serial impeaching is not a very healthy sign for our Republic.

We’re ultimately going to need some kind of great reset.

💉 Shocking news from the NFL: Damar Hamlin won’t be playing football after all. For no reason!

“Buffalo Bills prioritize playing it safe with Hamlin.” They’re playing it safe all right. If Damar Hamlin is ever diagnosed with a vaccine injury, he’ll have a half-billion-dollar lawsuit against the NFL for forcing him to take the jab.

I hardly need to point this out, but if Hamlin is fine, there isn’t anything to “play it safe” about.

Anyway, I won’t say I told you so. I’ll just say: Safe and effective!

💉 The UK Sun ran a story last week headlined, “‘A TRUE STAR’ Tragedy as AFL star Samara Whitney, 16, dies suddenly as club pays tribute to ‘pocket rocket’ player.”

Samara Whitney was a star player on Australia’s Wynyard Football (Soccer) Club in Tasmania. She was only sixteen years old. She died suddenly and mysteriously a week ago last Tuesday.

Samara’s principal Gregg Sharman said Samara was one of the school’s brightest stars. “More than football, Samara was a vivacious, charismatic, engaging, friendly, and compassionate student to every person,” principal Sharman said. Well, she was.

The cause of Samara’s untimely death has not been disclosed, and probably never will be, either.

💉 The Sun ran another SADS story yesterday, headlined “‘WAY TOO SOON’ Brandon Hunter dead aged 42: Ex-NBA star for Boston Celtics dies suddenly as friend reveals he spoke to him ‘last week’.”

Brandon Hunter, 42, was a former power forward who played in the NBA for two seasons with the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. Hunter died suddenly and mysteriously this week.

Following his successful basketball career, Hunter went into coaching, real estate, and sports management. Fans were devastated to hear that he had died and tributes quickly poured out on social media for the former NBA star.

Hunter’s friend, retired NBA point guard T.J. Ford, addressed Hunter’s passing on social media: “We just spoke last week. Losing a lot of my friends lately,” Ford said.

Indeed.

Unsurprisingly, Hunter’s sudden, mysterious cause of death was not disclosed. After all, it happens all the time.

🔥 In the latest unsavory story about the democrat party’s new fascination with sexual deviance, the New York Post ran an eye-popping article Monday headlined, “Va. Dem. House candidate performed sex online with husband for tips.”

The 57th District is a suburban Richmond seat that is key to democrat hopes of overturning the current 50-46 GOP state House majority in November’s elections. If they succeed, democrats could bring Governor Younkin’s conservative agenda in Virginia to a full stop.

The key candidate, democrat Susanna Gibson, 40, a nurse practitioner and married mother of two, pictured above, is running against retired home builder Republican David Owen. Gibson’s catchy campaign slogan is “Standing up to Special Interests,” but it appears it would be more accurate to say she is laying down for them.

According to the Post, for several years up to at least last September, Gibson streamed live videos of herself performing sex acts on an “adult entertainment” site called Chaturbate, which allows the “performers” to chat live with the viewers and earn tips. Gibson’s username was “HotWifeExperience.”

Apparently, in several videos that the Post obtained, Mrs. Gibson often chatted with her viewers asking for donations in exchange for performing various indescribably-shameful sex acts, which I cannot even hint at on this family blog and will not link.

Occasionally, on-screen candidate Gibson explained to ogling viewers she was “raising money for a good cause.” One suspects Mrs. Gibson considered herself to be the unidentified good cause. In one chat last year, the democrat candidate begged her perverted viewers: “I’m raising money for a really good cause and it’s my birthday so give me more please because it’s my birthday night…”

The pay-for-play democrat is one of the party’s more prominent Virginia contenders.

Gibson is not sorry, embarrassed, or ashamed; she sees herself as the victim. In a written statement, Gibson called exposure of the publicly-available videos “an illegal invasion of my privacy designed to humiliate me and my family.” She’s not humiliated though. In fine feminist fashion, she vowed that “it won’t intimidate me and it won’t silence me.” Gibson feels that alerting the media to her pornographic videos was just plain old dirty politics, below the belt, as it were, aimed only at silencing all “women when they speak up.”

“Speaking up” is a new euphemism with which I wasn’t previously familiar. And I suspect “all women” might prefer not to be included in Gibson’s moonlighting adventures.

Virginia democrats have no problem whatsoever with the videos, and see Gibson’s entrepreneurial online activities as signs of pluck and initiative. Even after the story began to break, Gibson appeared Saturday alongside U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.) at a fund-raising event. “I think it’s fantastic you have someone running who has an open sex life. It’s actually very refreshing,” explained Corey D. Silverstein, a prominent adult entertainment industry lawyer, who was quoted for the story.

“Refreshing” is one word for it. Revolting is another. Reprehensible, repugnant, repellant, and so forth. There are lots of words.

Gibson’s two largest donors are abortion rights outfit Emily’s List and environmental group Clean Virginia Fund, and she is endorsed by Moms Demand Action, a group pushing radical woke-left candidates in Virginia schools and around the country. Her campaign website’s priorities are: preserving abortion rights, banning assault weapons, lowering the cost of living and protecting the environment.

I was on the fence about reporting this story, but then I recalled the Burbank Mayor’s campaign recent spank-a-thon. There seems to be an unsavory pattern emerging with democrats, their obsession with recruiting perverts to run for office. It’s troubling that this kind of thing actually makes candidates more attractive to democrats.

Here’s an honest question: How many years ago would Susanna Gibson have been made unelectable on this news, and would have withdrawn from the race in disgrace? Much less kept her job as a nurse practitioner.

What kind of downward trajectory is the democrat party on, and where will it end?

But lest we despair, there are some signs of civilizational life. Although she claims to be proud and not embarrassed, Mrs. Gibson has not posted to her Twitter account since the story broke. The comments to her last couple tweets are off-the-chain critical, and are not for the faint of heart. Social media posters are tearing her a new one.

Maybe public humiliation will accomplish what self-control has failed to do.

I’m sorry for Mrs. Gibson on many levels. But she needs to withdraw from the public eye — in all her “jobs” — and spend a lot of time in quiet self-reflection.

Meanwhile, the Spanky Burbank Mayor’s story continues growing legs, which I find to be another encouraging sign that society might not be completely lost in the woods. The last couple days have featured headlines like this one from the Washington Examiner:

To turn things around, I think all that people need to do is starting calling bad behavior what it is: immoral, unethical, shameful, and reprehensible. We need to stop being afraid to use words of judgment and the language of values. This might be controversial, but maybe we need more judginess, not less.

🔥 The New York Post ran an amusing story yesterday headlined, “McDonald’s to scrap self-serve soda fountains over theft, hygiene concerns: report.”

According to the story, the self-service soda policy, which began in 2004, is now being phased out because of soda thieves. The honor system has completely broken down. (I guess soda crooks were bringing their own cups in or something? The story didn’t describe how the thefts worked.)

The fast food giant is trying to find the silver lining. For instance, deleting the soda fountain could make the locations feel more like a restaurant, if servers bring drinks right to diners’ tables. On the other hand, people are using more call ahead orders and going through the drive-through, so fountain-less restaurants isn’t even a big deal.

Or maybe people should stop stealing soda. Kids are still being taught “thou shall not steal” in school, right? Hello?
